My Micro Wedding Reception in Chagrin Falls

Filed in Weddings — August 19, 2025

When Zack and I met, it felt like we had known each other forever. The connection was instant, and we quickly became best friends. From that moment on, we never looked back. When it came to planning our wedding, we knew a traditional celebration wasn’t for us. Instead, we chose to have a micro wedding in Chagrin Falls—a private ceremony for just the two of us, followed by a reception to celebrate with family and friends.

We wanted the reception to honor the people who have played a big role in our lives. Choosing Chagrin Falls felt perfect. The setting was meaningful, personal, and filled with sentimental value.

Why We Chose a Micro Wedding in Chagrin Falls

Our reception was held at Zack’s grandparents’ community clubhouse. It has been in their family for over 40 years and was the first house built in their neighborhood. This gave the space extra meaning for our wedding weekend.

The day before the reception, my friends and I spent hours setting up the space. We arranged mismatched vintage place settings that I had sourced from local thrift stores and styled the tablescapes to fit the romantic, whimsical vibe we wanted. That evening, Zack’s mom hosted a welcome dinner at her home. The luxurious atmosphere, beautiful decor, and delicious food made everyone feel welcomed and excited for the weekend.

Getting Ready for the Big Day

The morning of our micro wedding in Chagrin Falls was full of energy. My friends and I got ready at Zack’s mom’s house in a charming bridal suite she had prepared. The room was filled with laughter, mimosas, and snacks. I felt so loved and supported as I prepared for the day.

Zack got ready there too, but we didn’t see each other until our first look at the clubhouse. My mom helped me into my dress, and my dad, visiting from California, joined us for the joyful moment. Having them there made it even more emotional and special.

The First Look and Photos

Zack looked incredible in a blush suit, perfectly tied to our color palette of ivory, sage green, blush, and dusty rose. I wore a comfortable yet bridal dress from Nordstrom. Our photographer, Amanda, captured the light and airy vibe I had imagined. We took photos around the clubhouse and surrounding landscape, feeling relaxed and happy before celebrating with our guests.

Our Intimate and Joyful Reception

Our reception began with a cocktail hour, followed by dinner. One of the most meaningful moments was showing our Costa Rica elopement video. Sharing our elopement allowed friends and family to feel like they were part of our special day. Many guests later told us it made them feel included and connected.

Afterward, we enjoyed heartfelt toasts and our first dance. Then it was time to party! The night was filled with laughter, dancing—glow sticks included!—and connection with those closest to us. With about 45 people, the intimate setting felt perfect. Each guest had a unique role in our lives and was handpicked to be part of the weekend.

The following morning, we wrapped up the weekend with bagels and coffee at our home. It was a joyful way to recap the reception and spend time with friends and family before saying goodbye.

Stationery Details That Made Our Micro Wedding Special

Our wedding was anything but traditional. It included three parts: a legal ceremony in Ohio with just our moms, a Costa Rica elopement, and this micro wedding weekend. Our color palette of ivory, sage green, blush, and dusty rose created a romantic, whimsical vibe throughout.

Romantic Wedding Invitations

Stationery played a big role in our celebration. From handmade paper save-the-dates to our invitation suite with inner and outer envelopes, wax seals, ribbon, die-cut cards, and envelope liners, every detail reflected our story.

Coordinating Day-Of Wedding Stationery

I also created day-of paper goods for the wedding. These included a linen welcome sign, bar and dessert signs, table numbers, place cards, and a seating chart. Creating a cohesive wedding brand with stationery made our celebration personal, meaningful, and visually beautiful.
