A Cleveland-based designer specializing in whimsical and timeless custom wedding. stationery. I love creating meaningful designs that celebrate each couple’s unique story. On this blog, I’ll help you navigate the stationery world and bring your vision to life!
Hi i'm JoLynn
Laura and Walter’s wedding at The Montage Indianapolis was the kind of day that comes together when a couple knows exactly what they want. And these two knew. In fact, they both work in the wedding industry (Laura as an event coordinator and Walter as a banquet chef). After having spent countless days bringing other couples’ celebrations to life, it was their turn.
For their own spring wedding, they had a vision: modern, elegant garden party vibes, gathered under a sailcloth tent. I had the honor of designing their invitation suite, and we created it to perfectly set the tone for their day. Today I’m sharing a behind-the-scenes look at the suite, as well as the beautiful wedding it introduced.

When Laura and Walter (and their amazing Indianapolis wedding planner, Satin & Stems) came to me, they had a clear idea of what they wanted for their invitations. The dream? Something timeless, romantic, and cohesive with their overall wedding design.
We always start the stationery process with a design board to ensure we’re on the same page. From there, I create a mockup of the full suite to give us a starting point. It allows us to talk through each detail and shape the suite together before anything goes to print.
Take a look at where we started:

For Laura and Walter’s vision, I pulled inspiration from their white and green palette. To tie the look into their florals, I chose to incorporate some extra embellishments in the form of a delicate floral pattern. This pattern was perfect to use for an envelope liner and romantic vellum wrap.
Wedding invitation embellishments are like accessories to an outfit. They elevate the look and add something extra special.
The final embellishment we added? A simple line art illustration of their wedding tent. It’s one of my favorite details from their suite. I love helping couples incorporate meaningful touches into their designs.
Their suite turned out absolutely amazing. See for yourself!

Can you imagine the excitement their guests felt when they opened these invitations?! Wedding stationery does more than inform your guests; it also adds to the anticipation for your big day.

Laura and Walter said their vows in one of The Montage’s glass-walled rooms, where a paned ceiling and walls of windows filled the space with natural light. A simple wooden cross stood at the front, surrounded by white and green floral installations. Ace Party Rental‘s white draping softened the ceiling. It was a stunning and simple design—a ceremony setting that let Laura and Walter’s faith-filled vows take center stage.

After the ceremony, guests headed into a sailcloth tent from Mutton Rentals. The open, airy tent gave Laura and Walter the garden party vibe they were after while keeping everyone comfortable. Using a tent is a great move for couples who love the outdoors, but want a backup in case the spring weather takes a turn.
Ace Party Rental added drapery and lighting, and Violet Vintage Rentals brought in the lounge and wooden chairs that elevated the look further. Satin & Stems carried the white and green florals throughout, echoing the same palette from Laura and Walter’s invitation suite.
Because Kahn’s Catering is the in-house caterer (and owner) at The Montage, the food and service were completely handled. Opting for an all-in-one venue and catering team like Kahn’s helps make your day a little more seamless.

Want to thank your guests for attending and share more about your story as a couple? We can make that happen with wedding stationery!

Congratulations to Laura and Walter! Here’s to a lifetime of happiness together. It was a joy to design the invitations for their wedding and to see the whole celebration come to life.
An invitation suite is the first piece a couple’s guests will see, and it sets expectations long before they arrive. When it reflects the couple and their day, everything that follows feels connected.
