Hi i'm JoLynn
Dreaming of a merlot-hued wedding that’s moody and romantic with a touch of drama? This one is for you! I recently had the opportunity to design stationery for a Cedar Lakes Estate wedding in the Glasshouse. (If you haven’t heard of Cedar Lakes Estate in Port Jervis, New York, you definitely want to add it to the top of your list. It is stunning.) Deep merlot tones, lush red florals, and a fruit-filled tablescape brought all the romance to this exclusive Hudson Valley wedding venue.
Let’s take a closer look at this wedding, starting with the stationery details!

For this suite, I created a design that matched the romantic feel of the wedding.
I wanted to really lean into the shades of red theme, so I started with a deep terracotta invitation card. To give a little vintage charm, I added a hand-drawn border with a bow detail at the top. Bows are having a moment right now, and I love finding creative ways to incorporate them into your suite! For the details card, I used the same deep terracotta tone and added an illustration of a pair of swans. Hand-drawn illustrations are a great way to add a personalized touch to your suite.
To contrast the red, I chose white envelopes with printed script addressing. As a full-service luxury stationery designer, I handle every detail. That includes envelope addressing and mailing! It’s one more thing you can check off your long list of wedding to-dos.

The ceremony took place in The Glasshouse, Cedar Lakes Estate’s newest addition. The soaring glass greenhouse features black steel beams, stone floors, and views of the Hudson Valley landscape. Dark draping softened the space and added some drama overhead.
Tame Florals created two tall floral installations to flank the aisle. Red roses, hydrangeas, calla lilies, ranunculus, and even dried branches climbed up each column. The bold color and shape really popped against the glass walls.
The couple, Katie and Jess, looked incredible in their outfits. Katie’s strapless corseted drop-waist wedding dress and cathedral veil felt romantic with a vintage touch. Jess’s tailored white suit set leaned modern and sharp. Together, the two looks struck the perfect balance of modern and vintage, just like the wedding design itself.

How stunning is Katie’s corseted drop-waist wedding dress?!

The reception leaned all the way into the romantic mood. A black and white botanical tablecloth anchored the table. Red taper candles, black and white vintage china, and red glassware completed the look.
The standout? Fresh fruit woven directly into the tablescape. There were clusters of grapes, figs, strawberries, and pomegranates nestled between the floral arrangements. Fruit displays are currently trending, and I have to say I am loving the personality they add to the table!
The Glasshouse at Cedar Lakes Estate is an amazing place to hold your wedding reception. No matter what the weather, you’re covered (literally). Evening sunsets, a passing rain shower, softly falling snow… you make nature part of your wedding when you choose a venue like this.

Remember the swan illustration from the invitation card? The menu card I designed features the same swans on white card stock with deep red text. It sits beautifully against the vintage-inspired plates and crimson napkins.
One of the benefits of working with a full-service stationery designer is that we don’t just stop at your invitations—we can design all the stationery for your wedding day. This ensures everything is cohesive.
