Hi i'm JoLynn
Choosing a bridal shower theme can be so much fun. You (or whoever is planning the day) get to imagine the colors, the little details, and how the whole day will come together. The trickier part is carrying that theme all the way through the shower. A beautiful invitation helps, but if the theme stops there, the day can feel a little disconnected.
As a wedding stationer who has designed paper goods for many bridal showers, my best advice is simple: carry your theme through all of your bridal shower stationery. When every sign and piece of paper ties into the theme, your whole shower will feel cohesive. To show you how it works, let’s look at a recent bridal shower theme I designed stationery for: Under the Harvest Moon.

Your guests see your invitation before anything else, which makes it the perfect place to introduce your theme.
For her September bridal shower, my amazing bride Caitlin chose Under the Harvest Moon as her theme. The Harvest Moon is the full moon that you see near the first day of autumn, which was right around the time of her shower. Her theme paired the warm, earthy colors of fall with celestial imagery. (If you’re looking for bridal shower theme ideas, drawing inspiration from the season is a lovely idea.)
To carry that onto paper, I filled Caitlin’s invitation with fall florals in deep reds, oranges, and greens. I also added golden stars as a nod to the celestial theme. When guests received the Harvest Moon Luncheon invitation, the wording, color palette, and images showed exactly what the day would be like.
When your invitation introduces your theme, your colors, and the vibe, the rest of your bridal shower stationery has a clear direction to follow.
Once your invitation introduces your theme, it’s easy to put all your attention there and leave the day-of paper for later. But when those pieces don’t share the same theme, things can seem disjointed. For a bridal shower that truly feels cohesive, your theme needs to reach everything guests see at the party too. Caitlin’s shower did that through its signs and games, so let’s start with the signs.
A welcome sign is a great place to start, since it greets guests as soon as they arrive. For Caitlin’s shower, we went with a natural linen welcome sign that reminded them of the theme right away.
We carried the Harvest Moon into the small details too. For example, guests left advice for the couple at an advice station, with a moon-themed sign and cards to match. The little details show your guests the care you put into the day.

Bridal shower games are another spot to show off your theme. Guests hold and read the game cards, so the theme can appear in both the artwork and the wording.
I worked with Caitlin’s mother to design two games for her shower. The first was the Cosmic Couples Quiz. This card tied into both the color palette and the celestial theme. The card read, “Their stars aligned, their paths crossed, and now they are preparing for forever. Test your knowledge of the happy couple and see if your guesses are written in the stars.”
I added the gold detail at the bottom of the quizzes by hand, and it turned out beautiful! This is the level of care you receive when you work with a custom stationer.

The second game was Guess the Dress. I created a card with a silhouette of a bride, and guests were instructed to draw the style of dress they believed Caitlin would wear. Afterwards, their guesses were strung up and displayed for everyone to see!
“Everyone loved the table settings and raved about how the stationery matched perfectly!”

Your bridal shower theme deserves to show up everywhere your guests look. When you repeat the same colors, artwork, and wording across your stationery, they see one clear idea from the invitation through the games. That’s the approach I took with Caitlin’s Under the Harvest Moon shower.
If you’re planning your wedding invitations and would like stationery for your bridal shower too, I’d love to design it for you. When you work with me as your custom stationer, we can design each piece around your theme. Reach out, and tell me about the stationery you’re dreaming of!
